Chou Shounen Tanteidan NEO (超・少年探偵団NEO), is a Japanese animated series produced by DLE and published by Poplar. It aired 13 episodes from January 2, 2017 to March 27, 2017. The first episodes were uploaded onto Youtube and Nico Nico Douga on the same day[1]. Each episode was 4 minutes long and was aired on Tokyo MX. The series was directed by Kazuhito Omiya[2] and contains the ending theme "Chou Tantei Curiosity" performed by Cookie Jam Jam Biscuit. The show also aired on Boomerang Japan in 2018[3].

Based off of the novels by Ranpo Edogawa, this anime series takes place in the year 2117 and follows Young Kobayashi, descendant of the original Kobayashi, and the group of young detectives who keep the peace in Tokyo. However, a mysterious person known as the Fiend with Twenty Faces lurks in the shadows. The series follows the detective team's attempts at thawrting the Fiend's plans, which usually results in Akechi saving the day and the team.

Characters

Kobayashi the 7th

Also known as "Kobayashi Shounen". The 7th descendant of the original Kobayashi. Leader of the detective team and is Akechi's apprentice. He is very earnest. Kobayashi heavily admires Akechi, usually describing him as "cool". 15 years old.

Akechi Kogorou the 7th

The 7th descendant of the original Akechi. He is currently teaching Kobayashi how to be a good detective. He is able to stay calm even in tense situations and can be described as prideful. 32 years old.
